Welcome to the first blog on our new website!
I’m Dennis, President of Juiced Events Inc. and I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves—or reintroduce ourselves for those we’ve already had the pleasure of meeting over the last 25 years.
We’re an event tech and entertainment company specializing in sound and video, lighting, live-streaming, DJs & MCs, photo booths, and all that fun stuff, in Red Deer and all over Central Alberta.
I’ve loved pushing buttons and playing music all my life. When I was a kid, I dreamed of being a radio DJ, and as an extension of that, doing those same things at live events too. I began as a hobbyist, producing mix tapes for myself and blending songs together “like they do on the radio”. As a young teen, I did a few low-key projects for the odd community play or drama class, and even though I lacked the proper tools and had no experience, nothing stimulated me more. I was hooked.
Finally, my goals started coming to fruition when I was accepted into the Radio & Television Arts program at NAIT in Edmonton. This led to a practicum in Red Deer at radio stations that were then called Zed 99 and KG Country. At the time, it was meant to be temporary because I’m a sucker for my family and friends, and planned to move home that summer. However, during those short few months, Central Alberta quickly grew on me, and when those radio stations offered me full-time employment to stay, I couldn’t resist!
Before moving to Red Deer in 1998, I’d never earned revenue by applying my DJ skills (and I use the term “skills” lightly). With very little practical experience, I would learn as I go. Sure, I always do my best, but in hindsight, “my best” was pretty basic! I suppose that’s how it goes. We all start somewhere, and improve year over year.
Fast forward to today, after countless events and endless amounts of courses, workshops, and seminars, I can’t fathom how fast 25 years has flown by — more than half my life! That’s how you know I’m passionate about what I do.
Along the way, the DJ company I started as a sole proprietor has morphed and evolved with so many iterations, I can’t even believe it myself. We’ve experienced growth, undergone name changes, became incorporated… and this spring (May 11, 2023 to be exact) we celebrate a quarter of a century in Red Deer.
